Water treatment and energy supply

Power generation via steam turbines is inconceivable without the use of water as an energy carrier and for cooling. Water is also used as an energy carrier for the decoupling of district heating and must meet high purity requirements in order to protect technical equipment from damage. Enormous quantities of process water are required in the energy supply sector, which is why the power-generating industry is one of the world's largest consumers of water.

Treated process water is essential for the safe and economical operation of both boiler plants and cooling systems. Treatment using softeners, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, or electrodeionization (EDI) protects this critical infrastructure from damage such as scale formation and corrosion. In addition, the adjustment of pH and conductivity via the use of conditioning agents plays a crucial role in the operation of the plants.

A problem that should not be underestimated in the cooling systems of power plants and other industrial water systems is the formation of biofilms in pipes and on all other surfaces that come into contact with water. These are communities of externally invaded bacteria that encapsulate themselves with a layer of slime. The consequences can be serious damage to equipment due to microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC), an extremely aggressive form of corrosion. The bacterial deposits also reduce the efficiency of heat transfer. In addition, pathogens such as Legionella can multiply in the biofilm and be released into the environment through droplets.

Therefore, it is essential to prevent the growth of biofilms in the cooling systems of power plants. WEIL Wasseraufbereitung GmbH's specialized water disinfection systems ensure the smooth functioning of cooling systems and prevent damage to equipment caused by highly corrosive biofilms.

Another issue is the warm waste water from power plants. Here, heat recovery via heat exchanger systems is worthwhile in order to make the production process more sustainable and cost-effective.

Inventory

We come to you! For the inventory and an on-site inspection, we will come by your place.

Water analysis

Whether it is softening, reverse osmosis, or adsorption on activated carbon - whichever method it is, a detailed analysis of the raw or wastewater is the basis of the further planning.

Reverse Osmosis System

Pilot test

A pilot test serves as the basis for the selection of the method and the dimensioning of the cleaning system. Weil Wasserbehandlung GmbH offers pilot tests, including measurement campaigns, at your site.

Evaluation and reporting

The results of the preliminary tests provide an objective basis for the decision on the optimal design of the water treatment.

We manufacture softening systems with individual valve control on an individual basis and according to your specifications
