Cause
A well-known manufacturer of small to large electrolysers for hydrogen production has set up a technical centre for test systems at a new location. A reliable ultrapure water production system was required to test their devices. The amount of ultrapure water required was 120 litres per hour with a target conductivity of < 0.2 µS/cm. WEIL Wasseraufbereitung was commissioned for this.
Production of ultra-pure water using double softening, reverse osmosis, and EDI.
WEIL Wasseraufbreitung has designed and built an ultrapure water production system with a capacity of 550 l/h. In order to keep the conductivity of the process water below 0.2 µS/cm, the concept includes reverse osmosis with upstream double softening 2 x 1 m³/h and an electrodeionization stage. It is a fully automatically controlled compact system with constant permeate control via a high-pressure pump with frequency converter, electronic flow and pressure measurement with trend display and archiving as well as a PLC control system. An ultrapure water tank with aeration via CO2 absorber is also installed.
